Editor Modes
Overview
The Story Portal editor offers different modes optimized for different aspects of story creation and preferred styles of writing. Switch between modes based on what you're working on and your preference.
Map Canvas Mode
Map Canvas Mode is the default visual flow editing mode, perfect for:
- Designing story structure
- Creating connections between elements
- Visualizing narrative flow
- Arranging scenes and sequences with interactions
You can expand Scenes into a pop-up to have more space for writing while staying in Map mode. You can edit and modify interactions, influences, notes and loose sequences.

- Editing interactions, influence and conditions
Document Mode
Document Mode provides a text-focused editing experience made to mimic typical screenwriting workflow and software. It's perfect for:
- Writing and editing full sequences at once
- Focusing on narrative writing
- Sequential content creation
- Text-heavy story development
When to Use
- Writing scene content
- Editing multiple scenes in sequence
- Focusing on narrative text
- Content-heavy work sessions
